"Five See, today is the last day we will spend in class building our catapults."
"What!? NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
This was the dialogue heard throughout the halls of AIS today. I understand completely the frustration of not getting to finish a project you've spent so much time and effort on. Though I cannot give you anymore classtime on this Design Thinking model, this will not be the end of your tinkering and creating. We will devote some DEAR times to our designs and once your reflections are complete, I am happy to give you more science time to continue.
We do, however, need to spend some time documenting this experience so we can use it to help us in the future. Below are the guidelines for your Design Thinking reflection on your Weebly Science Page. You can work on your reflection as partners but you still need to have your own published (in your own words, too!). Each step in the DT process should be their OWN POST.
Design Thinking Reflection (Video or Written Response)
1. Understand
2. Imagine/Plan
3. Prototype
4. Validate
5. Test
6. Overall Experience
Is there anything else you want to share? Anything else you are proud of? Feel free to add it to your posts!

Design Thinking Reflection (Video or Written Response)
1. Understand
- In your research, what question was the most helpful for you to answer?
- After the first Design Thinking cycle, what were you "understanding" about your design? Give an example.
- Provide a picture/summary (with the source!) of the information that was the most helpful for you from your research.
2. Imagine/Plan
- In your opinion, why is this step necessary? Why shouldn't we just go straight to prototype?
- Provide a picture of one of the plans you made and describe why it did or did not work.
3. Prototype
- How many times to you adjust/change your prototype?
- What was the most successful change you made?
- Provide pictures of your prototype through the phases and label them as Prototype 1, 2, etc.
4. Validate
- Put your validation video here. Label it as your first validation.
- Explain ONE change you made to your original and write your validation here.
5. Test
- Put videos of your tests here. You can put them in an iMovie and label them as Test 1, 2, etc. I will put them on Youtube once your iMovie is finished.
6. Overall Experience
- How do you feel about the Design Thinking Process? Which step do you think you need more work one?
- How well do you feel you understand Force and Motion (E, D, P, or M)? What laws/theories are you still struggling with? Which ones do you feel most comfortable with and why?
- Do you want to continue designing? Explain why. If yes, give an idea of something we could design next.
