Today I am practicing being a communicator in many ways. For one, I want desperately to be more communicative with the community at AIS. This website serves as a place for me to allow parents and family members to be involved in our class. I hope that after the Back to School Night this evening, I'll be able to show the families how much I appreciate them and their interactions with our class.
I am also trying to improve my communication skills in being more honest with others. At times, I do not tell people what I feel or what I am thinking because I am afraid they will be upset with me. This just causes more problems because I start to get mad at them in my head for how they act, even though I have never told them it bothers me! It really is a vicious cycle.
I've noticed great communicators in my class. Today, I had a student approach me to say he was unsure about the Learner Profile card he pulled in the morning. I was very thankful this student told me this because it showed me that I need to make sure I am providing more examples of the traits for my students. This student was also being proactive by discussing the word with me before he went home so he could still complete his assignment to the best of his ability.
